Overview

  • Indian Coast Guard commissioned ICGS Samudra Pratap, India’s first indigenously designed Pollution Control Vessel (PCV).
  • Samudra Pratap, meaning Majesty of the Seas, reflects the ICG’s resolve to ensure safe, secure, and clean seas while safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests.
  • Built by Goa Shipyard Limited with 60%+ indigenous content; target raised to 90% indigenisation.
  • Largest ship in the ICG fleet, ICGS Samudra Pratap has been specially designed for pollution control and for enhancing environmental response, maritime safety, and extended surveillance.

Technology & Capabilities

  • Advanced pollution detection and response suite: side-sweeping arms, floating booms, high-capacity skimmers, portable barges, and onboard pollution lab.
  • The ship is fitted with Fi-Fi Class 1 external firefighting system and integrates advanced systems such as Dynamic Positioning, Integrated Bridge System, Integrated Platform Management System, and Automated Power Management System to enhance automation and mission efficiency.
  • Aviation support with helicopter hangar; robust automation via Integrated Bridge/Platform/Power Management Systems.
  • Armament: 30 mm CRN-91 gun and two 12.7 mm stabilized remote-controlled guns, supported by modern fire-control systems.
  • Performance: 4,170 tons displacement; 114.5 m length; >22 knots speed; 6,000 nm endurance.
