- “Indhradhanussu” is an Inclusive Development Programme for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), outlining seven major welfare measures (7 boons) aimed at strengthening accessibility, welfare and social inclusion.
- One among these seven boons is the provision of free transport facilities for PwDs in State Transport services and the same form part of the Government’s commitment to making Andhra Pradesh a disability-friendly State.
- On the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Government announced to implement the free travel for all eligible PwDs along with escorts, wherever assistance is required, in certain services of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation(APSRTC)/Public Transport Department (PTD).
- AP Government extended the free travel facility to all Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) covered under Section 2(zc) of RPWD Act 2016, with disability 40% and more in all Stree Shakti eligible buses viz., City Ordinary, Metro Express, Pallevelugu, Ultra Pallevelugu and Express buses duly providing 50% concession to the eligible escorts in the above category of buses; to continue the existing facility of providing 50% concession in fare in Non-stop, Interstate, Saptagiri Express and Ultra Deluxe buses (not covered under Stree Shakti Scheme) to the said PwDs including to their escorts as per disability criteria adopted by APSRTC.
