- Andhra Pradesh has secured the sixth position in the country in organ donation, according to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in its State-wise organ donation report for 2025.
- Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Minister Satya Kumar Yadav attributed the achievement to sustained awareness campaigns conducted across the State under the Jeevandan scheme since its launch in 2015.
- Since the scheme began in 2015, as many as 1,200 patients have benefited from Jeevandan. In 2025 alone, 301 patients have received organ transplants so far.
- According to the Jeevandan Trust, many patients awaiting transplants are in the 20 to 50 age group. A total of 5,347 people are currently registered for various organ transplants, including 38 children below nine years.
- Under G.O. 95, the State government accords State honours to organ donors and provides financial assistance of ₹10,000 to their families. The Minister said the government is considering enhancing the assistance to ₹1 lakh.
