- India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has been launched in Greece, making it the 10th country to adopt India’s flagship digital payment system.
- The service was launched through a partnership between NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Eurobank, with the launch witnessed by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal in Athens.
- The initiative enables eligible users to make instant, secure, and low-cost digital payments, further expanding India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) globally and strengthening India-Greece economic cooperation.
- With Greece joining the network, UPI is now available across 10 countries in different forms, from QR-based merchant payments for Indian travellers to cross-border remittance services.
